Good morningggg!! I’m actually very excited for today’s blog post and want to make it a regular occurrence. It’s an opportunity for me to share with you guys about health, workouts and all of those things. It’s definitely become a passion of mine and I’m always working to be the best version of myself.
With that being said, I figured since most of us are having to work from home right now, it would be a great time to share some ways to stay active AT HOME!! I will also share a couple workouts that I have created myself and LOVE. They require minimal or no equipment, or you can always find something around your house to use as weights!
I will start by saying, I do lift and I lift heavy and often. With all of us being locked up and local gyms closing I am having to improvise as well or I will go CRAZY not working out. I have come up with some other options to help you stay active during this crazy time. I do these type of workouts as well, it’s just not my USUAL, know what I mean? Anywhooooo… just wanted to give an FYI.
I know finding motivation (especially when sitting at home) can be VERY hard, even for me. I mean we have Netflix and all the snacks, duh!!! But I find when I get up and get a workout in, it makes me feel SO much better, so I challenge you to try. Even if it’s just for 30 minutes, something is ALWAYS better than nothing at all. Plus this makes for a great time to get yourself into a habit of doing it everyday!
5 Ways to Stay Active – At Home
- Zumba || If dancing is your thing, Zumba is for YOU. I’m terrible so I’m awful at this!lol. There are so many different levels and variations. It is also VERY easily acceptable, you can find these on: YouTube, Xbox, Playstation, WII, a phone app and I’m pretty sure it’s on Amazon Video. There are so many options, I’m sure there are even more than what I named but the point is, if you love dancing — dance but make it a workout!
- Outside Run+Walk || Definitely the easiest, in my opinion. It doesn’t matter where you live, just get outside and walk or run, depending on your level of fitness. Even if just a mile, you can get out and do it. I love to just put my headphones in and just go, then before you know it, it’s been 45 minutes! Or get a partner, talk and walk – whatever works for you. If you have kids they can ride their bikes too and it helps them go less stir crazy as well.
- EMOM Workout || I personally, LOVE these type of workouts. EMOM = Every Minute On The Minute, which means complete the number of reps within the minute & rest for any time left. They are usually 30-45 minutes and they require minimal equipment! If you don’t have weights you can always change it to something else or just not use weight. It’s the best part, plus they really BURN!
- Yoga || This is probably one of the most relaxing I think. Again, there are so many different platforms that you can find yoga on. You don’t need any for of equipment and can essentially do it anywhere you would like.
- Outside Circuit || Another favorite of mine, hands down!!! I’ll put a couple examples of what I mean by this below. I just love to mix it up and I will include cardio + bodyweight exercises on a walk around and knock out a little workout. Again, NO equipment. I know it’s not weights or heavy lifting like I’m used to but it beats doing nothing!
